As 2024 comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on a transformative year for the crowdfunding ecosystem. This year marked the culmination of 12 years of pioneering work for us, advocating and shaping crowdfunding as a key pillar of alternative finance in Europe. From hosting the vibrant 13th CrowdCon in Brussels—bringing together policymakers, platforms, and innovators—to engaging with stakeholders to navigate an evolving regulatory landscape, we have remained steadfast in our mission to empower access to finance for innovation, social change, and a sustainable economy.
Yet, despite progress, the market has not achieved the scale many had hoped for. The introduction of the European Crowdfunding Service Providers Regulation (ECSPR) reshaped the industry, but its impact on market growth remains subdued for now, challenged by lacklustre economic growth. This prompted us to rethink and innovate, achieving new milestones in some of our broader initiatives that extend well beyond crowdfunding.
Looking ahead to 2025, Eurocrowd is embarking on a journey of reinvention. We are adapting our range of services, emphasizing deeper integration with the market and exploiting new opportunities. Within our network, we will renew our commitment to member-driven networking and policy representation, while creating fresh opportunities for industry engagement. Simultaneously, we will expand our independent activities and seize new business opportunities to ensure resilience and relevance in a changing landscape.
This next chapter is not just about change—it’s about building on 12 years of expertise in paving the path for crowdfunding—shaping policy and creating access to finance for startups and SMEs. Adding our core experiences in fostering innovation, creating professional ecosystems and bridging alternative finance with sustainable growth, we will seek to expand our influence and develop impactful solutions for the future of finance in Europe and beyond.
