EUROCROWD Joins CONSOB and Industry Leaders to Discuss the Path Forward in Italian Crowdfunding

The 10th Annual Report on Italian Crowdinvesting, to be launched on 17 July 2025, hosted by the Politecnico di Milano, comes at a critical juncture for the Italian market. After years of steady development, the sector has seen a sharp contraction in crowdfunding activity. The decline mirrors similar challenges across Europe, where tightening investor sentiment, regulatory complexity, and platform consolidation are reshaping the ecosystem. EUROCROWD will deliver opening remarks alongside Marco Ranieri of Consob, Italy’s financial markets regulator.

The presentation of the 2025 Report on Italian Crowdinvesting, led by Professor Giancarlo Giudici, will provide a data-driven foundation for examining the causes behind the downturn. A roundtable of leading platform operators, experts, and policymakers will explore potential strategies to revitalise the sector and regain investor confidence.

EUROCROWD will contribute a European perspective to the debate, drawing on it’s ongoing policy engagement and pan-European market insights under the European Crowdfunding Service Providers Regulation (ECSPR). We will highlight the need for improved regulatory alignment, investor protection, and sustainable business models in order to rebuild momentum across national markets. “Crowdfunding remains a vibrant tool for financing innovation, entrepreneurship, and local development,” says Oliver Gajda, Executive Director at EUROCROWD. “But with increasing competition, also from other financial services, the sector must evolve with greater transparency, professionalism, and integration with broader capital markets to secure its future.

A roundtable discussion will be moderated by Fabio Allegreni (Edibeez – Crowdfunding Buzz) with market actors: Carlo Allevi (Wearestarting), Gianluca De Simone (Recrowd), Leonardo Frigiolini (Fundera), Alessandro Lerro (AIEC), Danilo Maiocchi (Innexta), Armando Perrone tbc (Leone Investments), Benedetto Pirro (CrowdFundMe), Angelo Rindone (Tech4finance), Francesca Tenca (Università del Piemonte Orientale), Giancarlo Vergine (Over Ventures)

The event is being held in a hybrid format, with in-person participation at the Politecnico di Milano – Campus Bovisa and livestreamed online. The discussion will be held in Italian language.
