Equity Crowdfunding Panel at EU Startups Summit 2025

EUROCROWD took centre stage at the EU-Startups Summit 2025 with a panel titled “Equity Crowdfunding: Dos & Don’ts.” The session was introduced by our Executive Director, Oliver Gajda, and brought together representatives from three leading European crowdfunding platforms—Tokeportal.com (Hungary), Spark Crowdfunding (Ireland), and Crowdcube (UK)—as well as a senior representative from the European Commission who moderated the discussion.

But first, the European Commission provided an update on the state of the art of EU capital markets for early-stage funding. The EU crowdfunding regulation is a key tool in raising dormant capital for innovative economic activity, the Commission stated, noting that while progress has been made, continued cooperation among stakeholders is essential to refine and improve its application as the market will continue to scale.

The following panel discussion addressed some of the most pressing founder questions surrounding equity crowdfunding to the 300 participants: What should founders know before launching a campaign? How can platforms ensure investor protection? What regulatory developments are shaping the market? And what are the real-world implications of the ECSPR in enabling cross-border funding for startups?

Panelists shared practical advice based on their extensive experience in running campaigns across different European markets. Nora Szeles of Tokeportal.com highlighted the value of community engagement for founders, while Chris Burge of Spark Crowdfunding discussed how investor education can support campaigns to raise multi-million rounds. Gregore Touazi of Crowdcube emphasized the growing role of cross-border campaigns made possible through ECSPR and the increased expertise platforms are building as a result.

The audience interaction was lively and continued into lengthy discussions in the networking area following the panel, with founders asking how to evaluate the right platform, how to balance control and dilution, and how to best structure their efforts. EUROCROWD concludes the future of crowdfunding in Europe is bright, but sustained dialogue and collaboration across sectors are key. The professional actors in the market have proven that crowdfunding under the new EU law works, now its time to improve and scale operations.

EUROCROWD was proud to lead this high-impact session, offering clarity and vision at a time when equity crowdfunding is entering a new phase of maturity and cross-border potential. EUROCROWD will continue this conversation at future events, and again at the EU-Startups Summit 2026, supporting the development of a transparent, efficient, and innovative crowdfunding ecosystem across Europe.
