Our next Mastering ECSP webinar is taking place on 25^th May 2022, at 17.00 CET, and during this session we will take a closer look on the crowdfunding status quo in the UK and how it compares and differs to the ECSP regulation. On top of FCA regulation, crowdfunding industry in the UK is self-regulated by UK Crowdfunding Association, which was set up in 2013.

In the UK, FCA regulates financial models of crowdfunding, similarly to ECSPR since 2014. On top of FCA regulation, crowdfunding industry in the UK is self-regulated by UK Crowdfunding Association, which was set up in 2013. However, in contrast to ECSPR, equity-based and loan-based crowdfunding are tackled in different ways. UK is arguably the most developed crowdfunding market in Europe, therefore ECSP-authorized platforms may be very interested to enter it and vice versa UK-based platforms will likely have an immense interest to establish themselves within the EU.

Joining us as speakers are Daniel Hirschfield, Senior Professional Support Lawyer, and Jessica Howard, Associate, from Taylor Wessing.

Mr Hirschfield is a senior professional support lawyer in the Financial Services Regulatory Group. He is responsible for the group's financial services know-how and training requirements, which include providing regulatory updates to clients and designing knowledge initiatives to support regulatory changes. Daniel has significant experience in advising businesses across the payments, insurance, banking and investment sectors on UK and European regulatory requirements.

Ms Howard is an associate in the Financial Services Regulatory group.  She advises financial services institutions and non-financial institutions on a wide range of financial services regulatory matters including, advising on authorisation and applications for changes in control of authorised firms, the payment services regulations, compliance with regulatory obligations and the SMCR.

The webinar will be moderated by Ivona Skultetyova, our senior research and project manager and Oliver Gajda, EUROCROWD’s executive director.
