Burçak İnel, Director Financing Sustainable Growth, EBF

Burçak directs the European Bankinf Federation team dedicated to advancing banks’ financing of inclusive and sustainable growth through SME lending, financial markets, and sustainable finance, using regulatory advocacy, research and best practices to expand banks’ financing of the economy. Among others, her team launched best practices to implement the EU Taxonomy and initiated the EBF’s Chief Sustainability Officers Roundtable, the EBF’s adoption of the Principles for Responsible Banking and Women’s Empowerment Principles, and the Markets4Europe campaign.  

Until 2015, Burçak was the Deputy Director General of FESE, where she initiated strategic projects such as the Small and Midcap Awards and the IPO Task Force. Prior to starting with FESE, Burçak received the “Lobbyist of the Year” award in a global Euromoney competition in 2003. She worked at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., on financial and private sector development in Central and Eastern Europe. Burçak holds a Political Science B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and a Master in Public Policy degree from Harvard University.
