Our next Mastering ECSP webinar is taking place on 8 June 2022, at 17.00 CET, and during this session we will take a closer look at the emergence of a new asset class, namely crypto-assets and their connection to crowdfunding.

While Bitcoin has been around since 2008, crypto-assets as such sparked the public attention in 2016-2017 because of a wave of so-called initial coin offerings, which to some extent resembled crowdfunding campaigns. In contrast to crowdfunding, investors were offered tokens, digital assets that may carry broad range of additional rights. Since then, the category of crypto-assets have grown exponentially, including novel financial services known as decentralized finance. In September 2020, European Commission introduced MiCA, Markets in Crypto-assets regulation proposal, which is currently in last phase of the legislative process and should come to force in 2023. So the question is, are there still any overlaps with crowdfunding and does ECSP bear any significance to them?

Joining us as speakers is Michael Huertas. Mr Huertas is a partner and head of financial institutions regulatory Europe, PwC, Frankfurt. He is one of the leading experts on EU financial services regulatory matters, who in the past worked also on the regulatory side.

The webinar will be moderated by Ivona Skultetyova, our senior research and project manager and Oliver Gajda, EUROCROWD’s executive director.
