Our next Mastering ECSP webinar is taking place on 30 March 2022, at 17.00 CET, and during this session we will take a closer look on the use of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) under ECSP.

The use of SPV was included in the ECSP regulation especially to allow for crowdfunding with illiquid and indivisible assets, for example real estate or renewable energy projects. However, the final application may be broader than this. The clarifications provided by ESMA provide further light on how SPVs may be used when used within the ECSP regulation and where they might be limited.

Joining us as a speaker is Umberto Piatelli, Partner, Head of Financial Services, Italy in Osborne Clarke.

Mr Piatelli is the Head of the Italian Financial Services team and Head of Osborne Clarke International’s Alternative Finance group. His experience spans extraordinary finance transactions - including M&A, private equity and equity/debt capital market - and financial regulation, in particular as far as regards alternative forms of finance and Fintech.

Since 2014, he has represented Italy in the European Crowdfunding Stakeholders Forum, a group of experts selected by the European Commission to provide legal advice to the Directorate General “Internal Market”. He is a member of the Technical Committee for Credit & Finance of Assolombarda, as Head of the Alternative Finance and Capital Market Union sectors, and a member of the Technical Committee of Associazione dei Prestatori dei Servizi di Pagamento – the Italian Payment service providers association - with the task of following the development of the financial service regulations.

The webinar will be moderated by Ivona Skultetyova, our senior research and project manager and Oliver Gajda, EUROCROWD’s executive director.
