Join CrowdTuesday: Crowdfunding for Sustainable Football Stadiums and Sports Buildings – 8 Feb 2022

by Joan Segura on 21.01.2022

Continuing our work to promote the role of crowdfunding as a valuable tool to be used to support Europe’s sustainable transition towards carbon neutrality, this month’s CrowdTuesday will focus on the particular business case of supporting energy efficiency renovations of football stadiums and sports buildings.

CrowdTuesday: Crowdfunding for Sustainable Football Stadiums and Sports Buildings, starts 8 February 2022, at 16.00 CET, with three speakers - Andrea Kollmann, Senior Project Manager at the Energieinstitut a der Johannes Kepler Universität Linz, Hubert Rovers, Chief Executive Officer at The European Football for Development Network and Andrea Bogi, EUROCROWD’s senior research and project manager.

The renovation of the European building stock is considered one of the key priorities to achieve the ambitious goal of the European Green Deal, and unlocking the energy-saving potential of sports buildings, some of the largest consumers of energy in Europe, can provide a significant contribution to reduce CO2 emissions. To learn more about the topic, read our publication developed under the Greetfoot project.

The scope of the event is to present crowdfunding as an innovative engagement and financing tool to support football fans and clubs alike to get involved in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and take an active part in the energy transition.

With the help of an expert panel, we will provide an overview of different approaches to crowdfunding that can be employed by football clubs and/or stadium owners to support the implementation of energy efficiency projects in the context of football buildings and stadiums.

Key insights from the perspective of football fans and clubs will also be discussed.
