The European Committee of the Regions and European Commission’s DG for Regional Policy are organizing the annual European Week of Regions and Cities and invite participants, partners, and stakeholders to express your preference among proposed sessions. We would like to encourage our members, partners and everyone who is interested in crowdfunding and match-funding to endorse our workshop by selecting thematic cluster “Territorial development: regional, urban, rural” and vote for “Match-funding with the crowd: blending crowdfunding and ESIF to amplify results”. This online consultation will be open until 27 April.
As stated by the organizers: “The online consultation is not a selection process as, in parallel, the organizers will assess and select the sessions, based on the quality of the proposals and on the criteria of the event guidelines. Even if a session is part of the feedback mechanism, this does not mean that the session is selected for the official programme.
The most popular sessions of the online consultation will be presented on 30 April and the results of the selection procedure of regional partnerships and sessions at the Square will be announced on 4 May.”
About the workshop
The reduction in public budgets, the increasing importance of blending schemes in the future European funding landscape, and the consolidation of civic crowdfunding practices are strong signals that a renewed paradigm is needed for the way in which public authorities and citizens respond to local and regional challenges. The aim of the workshop is to present best practices in how to implement match-funding mechanisms – i.e. by combining crowdfunding with other sources of public funding – and to highlight the potential of such mechanisms when framed as blending schemes for the allocation of ESIF grants.
The actual event will take place on 8-11 October 2018. Registration for participants will open in July 2018.
