On March 8th, Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL),
supported by the European Investment Bank, organise the second fi-compass Conference. The
two-day event will take place in Brussels, and will be opened by Ms Marianne Thyssen, European
Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility.
Gathering more than 200 participants, the event will focus on presenting and discussing key topics
related to financing social inclusion and social impact investing in the 2014-2020 programming
period. Managing authorities, financial institutions, and other stakeholders planning to become
involved in the design of ESF financial instruments will have the opportunity of hearing concrete
examples of the design and implementation of financial instruments and other financing solutions.
In light of the recently launched CF4ESIF Working Group, ECN Executive Director Oliver Gajda will
discuss the potential of including crowdfunding among the available financial instruments for the
future programming period, as well as relevant benefits and current obstacles that have been
drawn from the analysis of a number of case studies. The intervention is included in the Innovative
financing instruments – experiences from the ground, ideas for the future session, taking place
from 16.30 to 17.30.
