Bruxelles, 27 November –  ECN is to happy to support the European Regional and Local Health Authorities (EUREGHA) in their recently launched #HealthInAllRegions awareness campaign, highlighting the organisation’s position on the future of Health in Europe beyond 2020.

Among the priorities, the paper (PDF) calls for renovated multi-level partnerships, increased and more outcome-oriented investments, and involvement of citizens towards better health promotion and prevention. In order to achieve the above-mentioned objectives, the paper highlights a number of financial and non-financial opportunities that should be better explored and exploited in the future programming period, with crowdfunding being listed as one of them:

“Increased synergies with EU programmes and new tools: health policies and innovation should also be supported in synergy with other EU instruments such as the Connecting Europe Facility, the Digital Europe Programme, the LIFE programme, InvestEU etc. New public procurement for innovation and other tools such as social impact bonds and crowdfunding for health should be fostered and promoted.”

Crowdfunding is increasingly becoming a reliable partner for startups and SMEs operating in health-related sectors, as recently demonstrated by partnership established between ECN long standing member Aescuvest and EIT Health. In this perspective, and in light of fostering further developments and partnerships at the European level, ECN has formally expressed its support to EUREGHA’s position and will continue to do so in the future.
